Welcome to The George & Dragon, Watton at Stone
Mike & Helen welcome you to the George & Dragon Public House in Watton at Stone and invite you to enjoy their hospitality in a friendly, warm atmosphere.
Dating back to the 16th century, it became a licensed premise in 1619 and continues to serve customers more than 400 years later. Under the new management of Mike and Helen, the pub has recently undergone a major renovation but the old rustic touches still remain with large oak beams, soft lighting and oak furniture. The George and Dragon is a charismatic and delightful place to eat and drink.

Dining at The George & Dragon
Using locally sourced produce and fresh ingredients, all our food is prepared and cooked fresh to order. We specialise in quality traditional British pub food. We are constantly updating and refreshing our menus, giving our customers a varied choice and value for money. Food is served daily and our Sunday roast is also extremely popular, so please be sure to book early. Be sure to check out our daily “specials”!
Food is served from 12 noon until 3pm and from 6pm to 9pm in the evening.
Sunday Roasts at The George & Dragon
Come and join us for a delicious Sunday roast at The George & Dragon. Choose from a selection of roasts including mature Topside of Beef. All our roasts are served with goose fat roast potatoes and homemade yorkshire pudding.
Lovely pub recently refurbished. The food was cooked to a very good standard and the portion sizes were large. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable seating with plenty of room. Easy parking. Would definitly visit again. Good value for money.

Based in the heart of Watton at Stone, near Hertford, we offer you a warm welcome. Our polite, friendly and attentive staff will ensure your visit is a pleasant one. Our extensive menu offers something for everyone. All dishes are freshly prepared and great pains are taken to source local ingredients wherever possible. We have a great selection of real ales and draught lagers for you to try, alongside bottled lagers, ciders and a full range of spirits.
We visited the George for Sunday lunch having heard good things about the food. We all ordered the roast which was very tasty, huge portions and great value for money. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.
